Republican Donald trump, who won the US presidential election, held the first telephone talks with Turkish leader Recep Erdogan.
It is reported that the presidents discussed the cooperation between the two countries and the fight against terrorism in the region.
According to the Agency, Erdogan congratulated trump’s “unexpected victory” and noted that Turkey and the U.S. shared a mutual respect, common interests and values.
Before that, Erdogan made a public statement in which he expressed the hope that victory trump will lead to the “useful steps” in the middle East.
