Former Prime Minister of Portugal Antonio Guterres, chosen as the new Secretary General of the UN, reports Reuters, citing diplomats.
According to the Agency, none of the five countries with veto power in the UN security Council, voted against his candidacy in the sixth secret ballot.
The candidacy of ex-Prime Minister of Portugal Antonio Guterres was supported by 13 of the 15 members of the UN security Council, while against has not spoken nor a permanent member of the Council.
The official vote will take place on the morning of 6 October (3.00 CET).
In addition to Gutterish for the post of UN Secretary General also claimed the former President of Slovenia, Danilo türk, foreign Minister of Argentina, Susana Malcorra, foreign Minister of Slovakia Miroslav Lajcak, Director-General of UNESCO Irina Bokova and the five other candidates.
The acting Secretary General ban Ki-moon will leave his post in January 2017.
