Ukrainian project LimpidArmor working on the augmented reality device designed for the military, primarily the crews of armored vehicles.
It will allow the crews of such equipment to get a full panoramic view of the surrounding conditions.
The finished complex LimpidArmor will consist of a VR-helmet, the Central control unit, and a selection of regular and thermal imaging cameras, and remote control in the form of a joystick or other device. He will be able to stream data from the cameras, glued in a 360-degree panorama, and broadcast it before the eyes of the driver of the car. In addition, the screens will be displayed telemetry data, and additional virtual tips etc.
The startup team initially worked on the augmented reality device for karts. Its founder and CEO Michael Grechukhin once at the meeting, members of ATU in the Dnipro talked with tank crews, who discussed the shortcomings of systems the review of domestic military equipment. And when in may 2016 team got helmet HoloLens, they decided to develop a device for the army, which would solve this problem.
In the future, the device may also be used for civilian purposes. For example, it is possible to equip the virtual work place for the operators of large equipment, the drone pilots, etc.
Now the team is in the hands of a working prototype — it already broadcasts the data on the screen of the helmet, but they still look not glued panoramas, and as the three panoramic Windows. The device is presented to the Management arms of the Ministry of defence, the team received permission from concern Ukroboronprom to cooperate with the Ukrainian tank factories, the work with the Lviv armored plant has already started.
