The fifth-largest Swiss Bank PostFinance has introduced a fee for storage of large deposits, the rate on them will be minus one percent. On Friday, November 11, the press service of the credit institution.

“I understand that such measures would be unpopular among our customers. No one likes to pay Commission,” said CEO PostFinance Hansruedi Koenig (Hansruedi Köng).

The new rules will take effect from 1 February next year for deposits worth more than 1 million Swiss francs (1,01 million).

In August, Bloomberg reported that Raiffeisen Bank in the German city of Gmund am Tegernsee has introduced a fee in the amount of 0.4 percent for the storage of deposits over 100 thousand euros.

October 26, Deputy head of the Ministry of Finance Alexey Moiseev stated that the Ministry is considering the option of taxation of the deposits. He noted that in Russia, wealthy people had a unique opportunity “not to pay the deposits nothing.”

In October 2015 Swiss banks UBS and Credit Suisse denied information about the mass closing of accounts of Russians with less than $ 5 million. Representatives of banks assured that their commitment to their Russian customers, and did not change the tariff scheme.

PostFinance grew out of the banking division of Mail of Switzerland. In 2015, the credit organization has started to close the loan accounts of clients residing outside Switzerland. The reason for this decision was the name of increased regulatory costs, which Swiss financial institutions come into conflict with the legal requirements of other countries.
