The settlement of Ukrainians in Russia and its interesting features

Расселение украинцев по России и его любопытные особенности

In continuing the theme of Russia took more than a million immigrants from Ukraine.

In the ribbon, geographers have included a portion of the most interesting maps of ethnic resettlement, according to the 2010 census.

And among them – the settlement of Ukrainians in Russia. The most valuable thing in her, that the selection was made not only pooblastila (for the subjects of the Federation – frame), and area-based. I.e., the settlement is seen much clearer.

As you can see, in 2010, the Ukrainians in Russia were concentrated in four main areas of settlement:
1) Fuel & energy regions with the highest wages,
2) “Gastarbajteri” belt around Moscow, mostly attendants, service,
3) “Green wedge” South of the Far East,
4) Of The North – Magadan, Chukotka, Kamchatka.

There are three bright spots outside these areas:
5) in the South of the Omsk region and the West Altai
6) the belt on the border of Kazakhstan in Orenburg and Chelyabinsk
7) the tiny “penny” at the juncture of the Voronezh and Kursk regions

Because, historically, the influx of people from Ukraine was reclaimed areas to the North and the far East, that map clearly shows that Ukrainians – the same Imperial nation, Russians, and together mastered Eurasia. The fact that after the second Maidan, the authorities who now control this country, there was such a schizophrenic dislocation is an aberration and a clear abnormality. Therefore, at present, this area is paying the price for the policies of the so-called New Ukraine enhanced system degradation. Alas.

In addition, clearly visible are formed around the capital zone of the workers. This is already the post-Soviet “conquest” in the 1989 census this phenomenon was not recorded.

But the funny thing is – with the territories, which are now state claims hard-core nationalists in the New Russia (Voronezh, Belgorod, Kursk region, Kuban). Please note that at the border areas in these regions, the proportion of people who clearly identificeret as the Ukrainians, is relatively small. And in the Kuban region, and generally insignificant. The exceptions are only 3 district of the Voronezh region, they are clearly visible on the map. In the far North of Russia, the share of Ukrainians is much more significant 🙂

3. And its fragments. “Fuel the Ukrainians” in the area of oil and gas producing regions. In the South of the Omsk region is also a bright spot.

4. Far Eastern Ukrainians (“green cures”). View – even in Birobidzhan Ukrainians than Jews (the titular nation EAO).

5. Border with Ukraine and Moscow region “gastarbajteri” belt. Here, as you can see, the admixture of Ukrainians is very small. I was expecting a much larger share. Crimea in 2010 still not in Russia, but it is the Ukrainians themselves, and not added.

PS Paradox, but after the euromaidan, the share of Ukrainians in Russia has increased markedly. Within 2 years after a violent Kiev coup in February 2014 in Russia has moved about 2 million people (and now probably even more). Mostly “economic” migrants, of course – but a large proportion of those who had left the Republic, fleeing from the persecution of the Maidan authorities, as well as people of military age, deliberately removed from the call to the ATO. I think the next census of the population this phenomenon is already fix.
