The Minister for North Caucasus Affairs Lev Kuznetsov said about the need to change the image of the region, which, in the opinion of many people is subsidized and “knows how to extract money”. This opinion was a member of the Cabinet was expressed on Friday, October 21, at the meeting of the government Commission on the socio-economic development of the North Caucasus regions, reports TASS.
“It is important for us that the Caucasus is able to earn money and, as we have said, the Caucasus can feed Russia,” — said Kuznetsov.
According to him, in 2017 in the framework of implementation of the program of development skfo will begin implementation of industrial projects from the stage of development of social infrastructure. “At the first stage each subject included in the district, we initially allocated the same limits,” he said.
Kuznetsov also suggested to redistribute the 37 million rubles saved in the construction of embankment in Derbent. Money, in his opinion, could be directed at the shortfall of equipment that is available in a number of medical facilities in Chechnya and Karachay-Cherkess Republic.
Last summer, Kuznetsov has stated that the slogan “enough feeding the Caucasus” is gradually losing relevance. This, in particular, contributes to the development of the agricultural industry in the region, noted the official.
In Russia in 2013, the state program “Development of Severo-the Caucasian Federal district” for the period till 2025, developed by the Ministry of regional development. In the framework of its performance in the region, in particular, it is planned to improve the investment climate, creating a modern tourism infrastructure, create new jobs, modernize socially significant objects.
The budget of the Chechen Republic for several years has been formed primarily by subsidies, in this connection, among the opposition has become a popular slogan “Stop feeding the Caucasus.”
