The man tried to pass the interview with Google Translate

Мужчина пытался пройти собеседование с помощью Google Translate He later admitted that he went to cheat because of the “lame” spoken English.

Company in the field of IT consulting and programme development DataArt announced the interview of one of the Russian-speaking candidates who wanted to interview in English with automatic translator, Google Translate, using the speech synthesis.

Resourceful candidate connected my phone to two computers: the audio output of a mobile phone connected to the sound card of the first computer where you run Google Translate with the translation from English into Russian. Thanks to this, the candidate heard the question and immediately saw it translated on the screen.

The second computer he connected to a microphone input to the phone. When the man spoke Russian, the computer translated it into English and voiced the result. The applicant also used the program Fruity Loops, because Google Translate translation is voiced by a female voice, and thanks to her phone went low male tone. More specifically, on the idea, the man must have heard the questions in English, to see them translated on the screen to reply in Russian, and the employer in this case already heard the English responses from the robot. But in practice it turned out not so smooth.

Because of the bad connection of the 3G Internet system worked for only the first few sentences, after which the speed of the speech synthesis is not enough and the candidate was forced to answer yourself. According to him, the interlocutor did not even notice this transition, however, interview him, and failed to pass.
