The launch of the satellite system “Arctica” postponed to 2018

Запуск спутниковой системы "Арктика" перенесен на 2018 год

It was assumed that a multifunctional system “Arctic” will be released into orbit in 2015, however, later became clear that the launch would be postponed. Now, the media has reported that the implementation of this project is scheduled for 2018. Despite the fact that “Rosatom” no formal dates have not been announced.

Russian media reported that the launch will be possible only in 2018, because the existing problems will not be solved by 2017. What is the cause of problems? Was that the case in the US sanctions that make it difficult to buy the necessary components for the device. The Russian scientists had to think how to replace the necessary elements of the Russian counterparts. Now, it seems, managed to cope with the difficulties.

Note that NPO Lavochkin and Roscosmos signed a contract for the creation of multipurpose space system “Arctic” in 2012. It was assumed that the first satellite is included in this project, will go into orbit on 25 November 2015, however, it is now expected in 2017.

Recall that the US sanctions have an impact not only on the Russian space project, but also on the other. In particular, there were problems with the satellites are part of the GLONASS navigation system, as running the machines was created on the basis of foreign components, and now you can access them there. Russian scientists now had to get out of the situation on their own.
