Russian President Vladimir Putin phoned his Turkish counterpart Tayyip Erdogan.

Putin’s press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the conversation between the presidents is at this moment. It is noted that the telephone conversation was initiated by the Russian side.

He noted that the issue of compensation for the downed Russian fighter will be decided by the result of conversations between the leaders.

Later RIA Novosti, citing close to the President of Turkey, the source said that the conversation between Putin and Erdogan, which lasted 40 minutes, was “very productive and positive.”

On 27 June, the Kremlin said that Erdogan apologized to Russia for the downed su-24. Later, a spokesman for Erdogan Ibrahim Kalin said the Turkish President expressed his regret in a letter to Putin, but added that it was not an apology.
