Eating late in the evening increases the likelihood of heart attack or stroke, warn researchers from the University of Eylul in Turkey. According to experts, food keeps the body in the mode of “increased readiness”, while it should relax. Experts say that you should not eat 2 hours before bedtime, and ideally after 7 PM.

In healthy people, blood pressure falls by at least 10%, when they go to bed. But a study of more than 700 people with high blood pressure showed that eating within 2 hours before going to sleep levels of blood pressure remained high. This is because eating leads to the production of stress hormones when the body should start to relax. The result is high blood pressure significantly increased the risk of heart attack or stroke, and people who eat after 7 PM, had almost 3 times higher risk maintain high blood pressure during the night.
