The ban will take effect from 2030.
The EU should consider a ban on the use of vehicles with gasoline or diesel engines in 2030, said in an interview with the Swedish newspaper “Aftonbladet” the Minister of the environment of Sweden Isabella Levin.
Commenting on the resolution adopted in September by the German Bundesrat (the upper house of the German Parliament), she said, “It’s a really interesting proposal. To be more specific, the only real thing is to introduce such a ban at EU level”.
“As the Minister for the environment, I see no other prospects than to send a car on fossil fuels,” said Levin.
Currently, the government of Sweden, which includes green and social Democrats, has set 2040 as the period of full transition to renewable energy.
