The changes will take effect from 1 December.
In order to get the certification from Google Play, smartphone makers have to fulfill a number of requirements, including, to install on the device some of the services the search giant.
Until recently, these included the Hangouts app, but now Google is changing the requirements for producers. Since 1 December, manufacturers will be required to preinstall Hangouts on their devices. To replace him will come the video calling service Duo. According to the report Google to the manufacturers, “the Duo will replace Google Hangouts in the part of obligatory pack GMS applications. This change will come into effect on 1 December 2016”.
It is worth noting that Google chose for inclusion in the list is Duo, not the messenger Allo, which integrated new digital assistant Google Assistant.
