This theory is supported by many, including scientist Dan Ariely. In an entry in his column on the website of the Wall Street Journal he said, “Set the alarm precisely for the time in which you have to get up. If you want to start your day at 7 am, you may want to set the alarm clock a little earlier, say at 6.40. Most often, the alarm clock will scream until 7 am or even 7:15. But if you choose this strategy of repetition, your body can then learn the conditional reaction between an alarm and getting out of bed.”

“In General, our bodies are better when they can get used to one strict rule, to get out of bed at the moment when the alarm sounds. When we play with the snooze button, our bodies get a confusing message – we sometimes hear a beep and get up, sometimes we hear it and remain in place for more than 10 minutes, sometimes we lie there for another 20 minutes, and so on,” continued Arieli.

It’s all too tempting “to lie in bed for a few more minutes” but those few extra minutes can do more harm than good. If the person is not ready to get out of bed, it probably means that he hasn’t slept much. Therefore, you first need to make sure you get the recommended seven to nine hours of sleep.
