The campaign against Hillary Clinton moves to the streets of Moscow

Catherine Hill (Kathrin Hille)

On Thursday, Maria Katasonova started his election campaign for a seat in the State Duma. But instead to appeal to their constituents, this 21-year-old Russian nationalist published an open letter to the American people.

“Soon you will elect a new American President, and I hope that you will make the right choice,” she wrote, adding that “to vote for Hillary Clinton is wrong and dangerous.”

As stated Katasonova Financial Times, there is only one candidate capable of putting an end to foreign policy, which sparked a new cold war and loaded with energy, global terrorism — Donald trump.

The action of this young politician is unlikely to somehow affect elections in the United States, but it can strengthen a panic about the fact that Moscow is trying to influence the election campaign for the White house.

When WikiLeaks published caused a great confusion the e-mails and records of conversations of the National Committee of the Democratic party on the eve of its Congress, it raised suspicions that the election trump was another project of Russian President Vladimir Putin, leading a secret war with the United States.

Russian analysts have called an absurd talk that Katasonova is a party to the project. However, her action shows what a strange response cause in Russia the American elections.

Pro-Kremlin bloggers actively blamed for war, terrorism and regime change around the world on Clinton, who served as Secretary of state of the United States. State media rarely report the hacker attack on the national Committee of the Democratic party, however, strongly emphasize the resulting internecine warfare, calling it proof of the failure of American democracy and personal mistakes of Clinton.

Wearing a t-shirt with the photograph of the candidate of the Democratic party and the words “Lying Hillary”, Katasonova handed his letter to the guards of the American Embassy in Moscow, and raised a poster with the prosecution of the candidate from Democrats of corruption, lies and war propaganda.

“I want to show that Russia supports trump! she said. — Hillary means a dictatorship of force, but trump is a man ready to compromise, ready to talk, ready to support a multipolar world”.

Katasonova is a candidate in the Duma, from the nationalist Rodina party. Today it is known for being the coordinator of the “National liberation movement”. This far-right group advocates attacks on liberal civil society, sometimes by force. The liberals in Russia had been marginalized in public life, and they are often stigmatized and accused of lack of patriotism.

Independent political analyst Maria Lipman said: “what she does in General and what she did today, of course, to a certain extent reflects the political agenda of the Kremlin with its anti-liberal, anti-Western Bank. But the idea that this action is somehow supported by the Kremlin, seems implausible.”

Its action is strongly promoted in the Twitter political consultant Konstantin Rykov, who has acted as the Kremlin’s political strategist and was involved in the Pro-government Internet trolling. At the end of last year he created a website Trump2016.ru, which posted news about elections in USA and in several languages, and since then has actively commented on the presidential race in social networks.

Analyst from the Moscow Carnegie center Andrei Kolesnikov said: “the Classes Rykov trump can be useful in the future. In case of a victory trump it may be of interest to the Kremlin.”

“But while we can say only one thing. Trump is much closer to the hearts of Russians than Hillary. Russian think they understand trump”.
