Tennis in Ukrainian, Svitolina took the first hurdle at the Wuhan

In the first round of the tournament WTA Premier 5 with prize money of $2,589,000 Svitolina had to play with bethanie Mattek-Sands, the major achievements which are connected with a pair and a mixed doubles. However, the American gave a serious fight to the player from the top 20 and forced Svitolina to spend on court for over two and a half hours.

First set Mattek-Sands won by a late break in the tenth game. Key in the second game was the seventh game – Svitolina made the break and then took another two games. In the course of deciding the Ukrainian was leading 3:1, then Mattek-Sands gave a jerk 3:0, but the last word remained with the Svitolina – two breaks, and Elina is sweeping the second round.

To defend last year’s points in Wuhan Svitolina will have to overcome the complex of Petra Kvitova. The Czech upset the strongest tennis player of Ukraine at the Olympics, and then easily beat her at the US Open.

Finalist of the Junior Wimbledon Dayana Yastremsky was the first among three Ukrainians played their matches in the starting round in Tashkent. Yastremsky was only the second time started in the main draw of the tournament WTA – the Governor gave battle fifth-seeded Kurumi Nara, but to record their first win in the elite of world tennis could not.

In the first set Yastremsky was lost 2:5, but returned to the game and was close to break in the 11th game. Nara played a double break-point and immediately made a break, not allowing her opponent to submit to a tie-break. In the second set, the Japanese experienced no problem brought the match to victory.
