Tea bags dangerous fluoride poisoning

Чайные пакетики опасны отравлением фтором

The use of cheap bags for tea may have negative effects on your health, the report said a recent study. Study cheap disposable packets of tea, including products of famous brands showed their glut of fluoride.

Which leads to excess daily intakes of these compounds leading to a high risk of dental and bone diseases.

Experts have called for manufacturers and the trade network to give the correct information on the tea packages (usually, the presence of fluoride is indicated as a positive factor in the nutritional value of tea).

Professor Paul Lynch and Archana Mehra, with the participation of graduate student Laura Chen (all of University of Derby) compared the levels of fluorine in 38 kinds of tea bags. Using ion-selective electrode analysis, which allows to determine trace elements in liquids, they investigated the levels of fluoride. For this, the scientists brewed tea bags in for 2 minutes, and then calculated the amount of fluoride reaching the body of the four cups of tea a day.

For an adult it is not recommended to consume more than a 357 mg. of fluoride per day.

However, in the study it was found that the level of fluoride in four cups of tea exceeds the daily rate of 75 -120% . On average, four cheap tea bags contained 6 mg. of fluoride.

As noted by scholars, the amount of fluoride in cheap and expensive tea bags have significant differences. The pattern remained like green and black tea. At the same time, in green tea were less fluoride than black.

On average, the difference between cheap and expensive tea bags was 3.3 mg. of fluoride per liter (4 pack brewed).

The less exposed tea processing, the less there was of fluoride. Varieties such as Oolong (oolong tea) and PU-erh (PU’er), in which the tea undergoes minimal processing, the amount of fluoride only 0.7 mg. per 1 liter.

Constant excess of the recommended norms of consumption of fluoride is threatened by a bunch of health problems.

Do not forget that in addition to tea significant concentrations of fluoride are contained in seafood, some drinking water, toothpaste, etc. the Least of the evils which threatened the overabundance of this element is fluorosis of the teeth is the appearance of white and brown spots on the tooth enamel. This is also the first symptom of excessive consumption of fluoride.

The more dangerous consequences — skeletal fluorosis — a disease causing muscle weakness, gastrointestinal disturbances, pain in bones and joints.

Of skeletal fluorosis usually occurs when the consumption of 10 milligrams of fluoride per night for more than 10 years, or 2.5 -5 mg. for 40 years.

Increased consumption of fluoride is also associated with the risk of osteoporosis, increased risk of formation of kidney stones (typical of the disease for people living in areas with fluoride in drinking water).

Fluoride affects the development of bone cancer in young people. In the 1992 study, it was shown that the risk of osteosarcoma 6.57 times higher in people drinking fluoride water.

Mature leaves of the tea plant have the ability to accumulate fluoride,” says Laura Chan. — For the expensive varieties of tea use buds and young leaves, while as the cheaper the tea, the more Mature leaves.”

“Although fluoride is a significant health minerals, it is involved in bone growth and the prevention of dental caries, but its excess threatens dire consequences. The people consuming cheap teas in bags in addition to other sources of fluoride, receive lethal doses of the trace element threatens health in the long term.”

The results of the study were published in the journal Food Research International (Food Research International).
