Mercedes-Benz plans to introduce the SUV G-Class new generation at the end of next year.
Judging by the spy photos, the design of the Gelandewagen will not change much compared to the current generation. The SUV will be built on a new platform. Thanks to her, the weight of the G-Class may be reduced by 400 pounds. Also the novelty will receive an aerodynamic body kit, which should reduce the drag coefficient.
In the engine range SUV will include petrol engines with power up to 360 horsepower. It is also expected the emergence of several diesel units. The most powerful of them will be a six-cylinder engine with recoil 313 horsepower. Later will be presented the “charged” modification of the new G-Class. This version will get an upgraded 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine Biturbo.
Recall that the names of all the SUVs and crossovers Mercedes-Benz now begin with the Latin letters G and consist of three letters. The only exception is the G-Class. All other models received index K and another letter as the designation of class. So, the heir of the crossover Mercedes-Benz GLK has received the name of GLC, the coupe-crossover based on it – the GLC Coupe.
