The European space Agency (ESA) launched a project in which the messages of people from all over the world will be sent to the North star. The website called “A Simple Response to an Elemental Message” offers everyone to fill out a form, answering the question “what is our impact on the environment will change the future?”. Scientists promise that all replies will be sent to Polar star, which is at a distance of 434 light-years from Earth, using the Cebreros antenna in Madrid. Anyone wishing to send a message into space, there is still time until September 16.
This project is a result of joint work by ESA, the British Centre for Astronomical Technology at Edinburgh University, as well as of scientists from Johns Hopkins University and the European southern Observatory. The aim of the researchers is the involvement of people from all over the world in a dialogue on the subject of how human civilization affects the environment and the ecology of the planet, and how in light of this, will be our future. Symbolic messages are sent to the North star, obviously, is to draw attention to this issue. Besides, this is just an opportunity for everyone to send their ideas into space, especially since the number of messages will quote from a famous book by Carl Sagan Blue dot.The cosmic future of humankind” and an excerpt from “Origin of species” by Charles Darwin.
