Scientists learned to “switch off” the gene for obesity

Ученые научились "выключать" ген ожиренияScientists have found a way to “turn off” the genes that cause obesity.

American geneticists have learned to turn off the obesity gene, but so far only in mice. Thus, scientists launched a cascade of biomolecular processes, forcing the cells to store and burn fat.

In fact, white fat (stores energy) is converted into brown (burns white fat to the heat). The team has developed mice in which activated this process.

There was also a control group of normal mice. Animals were fed unhealthy, fatty food for 14 weeks. In the end, control group quickly gained weight, but the bulk remained in the same weight.

By measuring the consumption of oxygen and production of carbon dioxide, the researchers found that the group burned more fat (by the end of the study had less white fat) and better tolerated the cold.
