GOLD MATH TEAM RUSSIA
Held in Hong Kong, the 57th International mathematical Olympiad, our students won four gold medals, one silver and one bronze. Here’s who to cheer for real!
No, we don’t have anything against football. Just cheer for young mathematicians much more productive and more enjoyable, because they win, and win in a much more complex discipline.
Gold took Paul Gubkin from St. Petersburg, Grigory Urgin, Ruslan Salimov and Ivan Frolov from Moscow. Silver got Nikita Karagodin from St. Petersburg, bronze — George boar from Rybinsk. Russia is included into group of the strongest teams in the tournament, along with China, USA and South Korea. Each country represents a team, consisting of six members, leader and supervisor. Participants are asked to solve the six problems (three problems per day for two consecutive days). Tasks are selected from different areas of school mathematics, mainly geometry, number theory, algebra and combinatorics.
International mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is an annual mathematical Olympiad for schoolchildren, the oldest and most prestigious of international Olympiads. Interestingly, yesterday was approved the application of the Russian Federation to host the International mathematical Olympiad in 2020 in St. Petersburg.
