Russia has become the second largest exporter of oil to Turkey

Россия стала вторым по величине экспортером нефти в Турцию

Despite the trade wars with Turkey, Russia became the second country in terms of exports of oil and oil products to Turkey last year with a combined volume of more than 7 million tonnes, according to Iranian news Agency IRNA.

Given the Agency’s data, oil exports from Russia to Turkey in 2015 amounted to more than 3 million tons of diesel fuel and 2.6 million tons and 1,2 million tons of other petroleum products.

Turkey imports more than 93 percent of her oil and almost all gas from abroad, the Agency said. In total, last year Turkey imported more than 39 million tons of oil, 25 million tons of which is actually oil. More oil arrived into the country from Iraq – 11.4 million tons. The third largest exporter in the country was Iran, the oil exports of which amounted to 5.6 million tons.

“Of course, Russia remains one of the main partners of Turkey in the field of energy. Russia does not take steps to limit their trading relations with Turkey, measures are taken only for Turkish goods and labor. About any energy blockade or failures in delivery of grain out of the question, these measures will hit, first of all, for Russia itself,” – said in an interview with “NO” Chairman of the Board of Directors of Engineering company “2K” Ivan Andrievsky.

Ankara, in turn, a large-scale counter-sanctions against the Russian Federation does not accept the country has repeatedly stated and continues to state their interest in the restoration of all relations with Moscow. In the end, Russia remains one of the key partners of Turkey for the energy supply.

As sums up g-n Andrievsky, it is unlikely that the situation may change in the near future: “Even if Ankara will actively seek out alternative partners, it will take more than one year”.
