Russia surpassed Saudi Arabia, becoming the largest supplier of oil to China. In April, exports to China Russian oil rose to 1.17 million barrels a day. In annual terms the increase was from 52% to 4.81 million tons.
Oil imports from Saudi Arabia, in turn, declined in annual terms by 22%, to 4, to 12 million tons, reports RIA Novosti with reference to the statistics of the General customs Bureau of China.
Previously, experts noted that a key role in the success of Russian oil to China has played Moscow’s decision to agree to accept payment for oil in yuan. Riyadh has not yet gone to such steps, from Beijing taking payments for black gold exclusively in U.S. dollars.
