Dmitry Yanchuk and Taras Mishchuk first time in his career became the winners of the Olympic games.
The Yanchuk and Misuse canoe-pair at a distance of 100 meters failed to directly break into the medal race, but in the semifinals Ukrainian Duo confirmed their medal ambitions, winning the race with polutoratonny separation from the nearest persecutors.
In the final, the leadership was captured by the Brazilians, Ukrainian Duo stayed in the leading group. In the final 250 metres the Germans had made a breakthrough and avoided losing the power of the hosts of the Olympics, and Yanchuk and Misuku the fight for the bronze left behind rivals from Hungary and Russia.
