The main Ukrainian grace Anna Rizatdinova gave a decent fight to the Russians.
Rizatdinova no errors passed four disciplines of the all-around (ball, Hoop, clubs and ribbon), but traditional judges favor the Russians did not allow Anna to rely on something more than bronze.
In the fight for the gold key was a mistake Yana Kudryavtseva in the program with clubs – home favorite all-around had dropped the subject and opened the way to gold her compatriot Margarita Mamun.
Rizatdinova bronze in the individual all around confirmed the glorious traditions of the Ukrainian rhythmic gymnastics. In 1992, the United team of the Olympic champion was Alexander Timoshenko, four years later, gold went to the hands of Catherine
Serebrianskaya. Also medals took Elena Vitrichenko and Anna Bessonova (twice).
