Reuters has learned the name of the future Secretary General of OPEC

The most likely candidate for the post of Secretary-General of the Organization of countries-exporters of oil (OPEC) is the representative of Nigeria, the former head of the state oil company NNPC, Mohammed Barkindo. On Tuesday, may 31, Reuters reported, citing its own sources.

At the upcoming meeting in Vienna, which will take place on 2 June, OPEC plans to elect a replacement Libyan economist Abdullah Salem al-Badri, who heads the organization since 2007.

At the last meeting of OPEC, held in Doha on 17 April, the parties have not reached agreement on the freezing of oil production. The meeting decided not to send representatives of Iran.

The organization of countries-exporters of oil (OPEC) is an international intergovernmental organisation of oil-producing countries: Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Qatar, Libya, UAE, Algeria, Nigeria, Ecuador, Angola and Indonesia.
