The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin discussed in a telephone conversation with Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, the results held in Doha on April 17, meeting of representatives of oil-producing countries, the press service of the Kremlin.
It is noted that the conversation took place on the initiative of the Qatari side. The two leaders also discussed “various aspects of the situation in Syria, including in the context of possible coordination of joint efforts to resolve the crisis.”
In addition, much attention was paid to implementation of agreements reached during the visit of the Emir of Qatar to Russia in January, other issues of further development of bilateral cooperation in various fields.
A number of OPEC countries, primarily Saudi Arabia, at a meeting in Doha suddenly began to insist on participation in an agreement to freeze production of a wider range of countries, in particular, all members of OPEC. At the talks, Saudi Arabia has taken a tough stance and refused to support any agreement without the participation of Iran. Iran, in turn, declared readiness to discuss the freeze of production only after its release on desanctions level of 4 million barrels per day and was not present at the meeting in Doha.
