France will conduct an experiment designed “to wean” pregnant women to smoke.
France will hold in hospitals an experiment in which pregnant women will pay for Smoking cessation.
“At the initiative of the management of the hospitals of the city of Paris and the National cancer Institute in 17 French hospitals will conduct an experiment. To participate in it invited women with a pregnancy of 4.5 months, who smoke at least 5 cigarettes per day)”, – writes the edition.
According to media reports, each of the women will be under the supervision of medical professionals who are familiar with the problems associated with addiction to tobacco. For each visit to specialists the woman will receive special coupons that will be accepted in the major supermarkets, shops for children and for the home. One visit to a specialist will give a woman from 20 euros. If a woman giving up Smoking, the accrued amount can reach 300 euros. The lack of nicotine in the body women will be checked according to the test results.
According to the official data of the French Ministry of health, one in five French woman smokes during pregnancy.
France is not the first country that came up with such a way to convince pregnant women not to use tobacco. In Switzerland the government since 2011 pregnant pays for such a bold decision to 1,5 thousand francs (about 1350 euros).
