Pope Francis: violence is not linked to any particular religion

Папа Франциск: насилие не связано с определенной религией

Violence is not associated with any particular religion, e.g. Islam. As reported by Le Figaro newspaper, this opinion was expressed by Pope Francis, returning to the Vatican from Krakow, which hosted world youth days.

“I don’t like to talk about Islamic violence. Reading the newspaper, I see that it is carried out not only Muslims, but also Catholics. I think that every religion has a small group of fundamentalists. It is wrong and unfair to equate violence with Islam,” said the Pope.

“I know it’s dangerous to say this, but terrorism grows when there is no other choice when money, not people, are placed in the center of the world economy”, – said Francis. According to him, many young Europeans are unemployed, abuse drugs, alcohol, without high purpose, they become vulnerable to the ideas of the fundamentalists.

Terrorist group “Islamic state” has made brutality their calling card, but it has no relation to Islam. According to Francis, Muslims committed to the ways of the world. So, in one of the African countries, Catholics and Muslims gather together to pray. “We can live together,” he said.
