Passenger cars in Russia grew over the year by 18%

The average price of new cars in Russia in January—February of 2016 amounted to 1.35 million rubles, which is 18% higher than the same period last year.

The most expencive became the Land Rover vehicles, the weighted average price which rose by 56%. This is followed by the Japanese Lexus and Mitsubishi, products which on average was higher by 39% and 31%, respectively. Such data contains in research of the analytical Agency “AUTOSTAT”.

The barrier of 20% overcome Mazda, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Subaru. 13 marks the growth of average weighted prices is in the range of 10-20%. Among them there are domestic brands such as Lada and UAZ (plus 16% and plus 15%, respectively).

Some brands recorded a decrease in the weighted average price that is connected with change of structure of sales: Ford (-1%), SsangYong (minus 4%), Volkswagen (-6%), Chevrolet (minus 8%).

As suggested by the Director of “AUTOSTAT” Sergey Tselikov, due to low Russian ruble exchange rate against foreign currencies, the growth trend in car prices this year will continue.

The study covered 35 best-selling brands in January-February 2016. The weighted average price for each brand was estimated based on average values recommended by the distributor of the prices and volumes of sales for each model (non-paginated version).
