OPEC increased its oil production to its highest level in eight years

The organization of countries-exporters of oil (OPEC) in April to increase production to 330 thousand barrels per day to 32.76 million barrels. This is the maximum value since 2008. The relevant information contains in materials of the International energy Agency (IEA).

Production increased at the expense of Iran and the jump in production in Iraq and the UAE, which compensated for the fall in Kuwait and Nigeria. Saudi Arabia was producing 10,20 million barrels per day, Iran was 3.56 million barrels (November 2011).

The Agency expects that the cartel will continue to ramp up production ahead of the OPEC summit in June. At the same time, IEA forecasts drop in production countries that are not members of the organization. It will fall to 800 thousand barrels per day to 56.8 million barrels.

On 10 may, the head of Saudi state oil company Saudi Aramco Amin Nasser said that the Kingdom in 2016 will significantly increase production of hydrocarbons.

On the same day the Minister of oil of Nigeria Emmanuel Cacique said that the country will increase oil production in half to 2.3-2.5 million barrels per day.

Currently, OPEC includes 13 countries, among which Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, UAE, Nigeria and Venezuela.
