People sitting on a diet, always stay away from sweet treats, but the key to losing weight could be to eat dessert first during the meal, experts say.

Scientists from Imperial College London believe that eating sweet food early in the meal can help keep appetite under control. The study focused on glucose – sugar found in cakes, chocolate and desserts, which is also the main energy source of the brain. Experts say that the brain protein called glucokinase, monitors how much glucose it uses.

If consumption is too low, the brain tells the body that you need to eat more starchy and sweet foods. As soon as the amount of glucokinase in the brain decreases, and decreases the appetite. In one experiment, rats were given normal food and sweet water. As a rule, animals used the sweet little water and a lot more food.

But when the scientists increased the amount of glucokinase in the brain of animals, their preferences changed, and they began to eat more sweet water, but less food. The second experiment showed that when rats were starved for 24 hours, glucokinase in the brain became much more active.

Experts say that people who have sugar cravings, have higher levels of glucokinase in the brain than the other – this helps to explain why some people can’t resist a bar of chocolate. This discovery may lead to new diet drugs and simple tips for losing weight naturally.
