Compact hatchback will be located on the step below the model Leaf.
Nissan is going to develop a small electric car, which will be located on the step below the model Leaf. This is with reference to the head of division on development of eco-models of Japanese brand Gareth Dunsmore reports Auto Express.
“In total we have invested in the development of electric cars, including the Leaf, about $ 5.4 billion. So we want to produce cars of various types which would meet the needs of our customers. In Europe, you should see the hatchback B-segment and crossovers,” said Dunsmoor.
According to preliminary information, the small electric vehicle will borrow the platform and powertrain from the Renault Zoe. The French hatchback is equipped with a 95-horsepower electric motor and a block of lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 22 kilowatt-hours. Stock battery is enough for 210 kilometers.
Earlier it was reported that the management of Nissan is considering creating electric versions of crossover Juke and Qashqai next generation. At the moment, the Japanese are developing a modular platform on which to build as the models with traditional combustion engines and electric machines. It is expected that such cars will appear after 2020.
