The President wants Western politicians stopped to consider the EEU as a project on “revival of USSR”, and to denounce that prejudice has offered to arrange a General meeting of representatives of both organizations.

ASTANA, 2 April – RIA Novosti. The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev proposed to hold a joint conference of the European Union (EU) and the Eurasian economic Union (EEU), the press service of the head of state.
Nazarbayev takes part in the nuclear security summit in Washington. At a briefing in the framework of participation in the summit, he talked about the discussion with the leadership of the European Council and the European Commission, the future prospects of cooperation between the EU and the EEU.
“It’s not a simple question. Many in the West Eurasian economic Union is perceived ambiguously. Someone thinks that this project on “revival of USSR”. So I offered to hold a joint conference of the two associations, politicians and experts have placed all the dots on this issue, and we can quietly implement the mutual trade,” Nazarbayev was quoted by his press service.
He noted that today there are a number of objective obstacles.
“In particular, Western sanctions against Russia. However, if in the future the EU, the EEU and the SCO will open up free trade, it will bring the whole of Eurasia is a huge benefit,” concluded Nazarbayev.
Relations between Russia and the West deteriorated in connection with the situation in Ukraine. At the end of July 2014, the EU and the USA from the point of sanctions against certain individuals and companies have moved to measures against entire sectors of the Russian economy. In response, Russia has restricted food imports from countries that have imposed sanctions against her. In June 2015, in response to extension of sanctions, Russia has extended food embargo until 5 August 2016.
