More than 70% of Russians save on the Essentials

A poll by ROMIR showed that buyers were less likely to purchase tradable goods

Food, clothing, non-food commodities – all of this is now trying to save more than 70% of Russians. In this they admitted in the survey of researchers “ROMIR”.

According to “Komsomolskaya Pravda”, according to sociologists, in the context of falling incomes and inflation, the citizens have developed four strategies to save money.

The first group of respondents — “optimizers” — said that refused from expensive brands (21%) and switched to cheaper (31%). As a rule, this group includes men over 45 years living in the big cities.

The second group of “rationalists”.They try to make grocery lists before going to the store and strictly follow the plan purchases (29%). Most often this strategy is used by individuals with high income.

Gaining popularity the hunt for discounts: according to the survey, 19% of all buyers of the Russian consumer basket consists of more than half of goods purchased under promotions.

Among fans of discounts are somewhat higher proportion of women aged 35-44 years, it is dominated by Russians with low incomes, residents of medium-sized cities with population of 100-500 thousand people, said “ROMIR”.

The last group saving — hoarders: 16% of respondents admitted that stockpiling of goods and products for the future, while 22 percent said they are now shopping as entertainment available to them. They rarely go shopping, to fit into the monthly budget. As a rule, it is inhabitants of rural areas and citizens with low income.
