Militants blew up an ancient mosque in Yemen

Islamic radicals destroyed the ancient mosque in the South-West of Yemen — it happened on Friday, July 29.

According to the TV channel “al Arabiya”, a group of armed Salafists, under the command of field commander known as Abu al-Abbas blew up the mosque, built in the XVI century.

The undermining of the mosque was condemned by the Yemeni Commission for antiquities and museums. “The dome of that mosque was one of the largest in Yemen, the place was considered one of the most religious,” reads the statement.
