Mexico: mayor of the Indian city killed a crowd of protesters

The head of the administration of the Indian town of San Miguel Chamula in the Mexican state of Chiapas were killed on Saturday by outraged citizens who came to city hall with complaints to the financial Affairs of the municipality.

According to El Financiero, the mayor, Domingo Lopez Gonzalez conducted a business meeting, when arrived many residents. They are required to allocate 100 million pesos, previously allocated to the city, to support local artisans.

The mayor’s security detail tried to disperse the crowd, in response they took out firearms and opened fire, killing the mayor and another person.

Then the rioters erected barricades on the entrances to the city, demanding from the authorities of Chiapas report on the use of funds in the municipality. Soon, however, the fuse on the ringleaders are gone, they went home, and the situation was taken under control by local police. Authorities have started a murder investigation.
