Angela Merkel may invite Vladimir Putin to Berlin to participate in the summit in “Norman format”, but only if there is a chance to resolve the Ukrainian crisis, said the official representative of the German government Steffen Seibert in Berlin.
“In due time, if will set the stage for significant progress, in Berlin may take place on a direct and personal meeting on the highest level,” said Seibert.
According to him, regardless of the assessment of what is happening in Aleppo, with Russia it is necessary to maintain contact and to engage it in negotiations. The goal of intensive discussions on the situation in Ukraine is the stabilization of the situation in the East of the country, said the official representative of the German government.
Seibert and the official representative of the German foreign Ministry confirmed that foreign-policy adviser to the German Chancellor and the political Director of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Germany are currently in talks in Minsk.
