Lexus showed a prototype of a kinetic chair made from new materials. It will be presented at a separate stand at the Paris motor show.
The chair is made in the form of web. Its structure is formed from eco-friendly materials created with synthetic spider silk. Its main component is protein, which is synthesized in the fermentation process of microorganisms. Then it goes through a centrifuge, transforming into a new material.
“Web” as in “Lexus”, absorbs vibration, is durable, malleable and can adapt to the shape of the body, optimally distributing the load. Backrest and cushion chairs which are movable to compensate for vibrations of the head caused by movement of the car. This will allow the driver to maintain a stable field of view.
On the prospects of serial application of such design has not yet been reported.
