Italian scientist saw in “La Gioconda” lover of Leonardo da Vinci

Итальянский ученый увидел в "Джоконде" любовника Леонардо да Винчи

Italian researcher Silvano vincheti (Silvano Vinceti) suggested that the painting “Mona Lisa” painter Leonardo da Vinci depicted the androgyne — polumogina, the woman. In the portrait of Lisa Gherardini, he found the features of the alleged lover of the artist and his apprentice Gian Giacomo Caprotti, better known as Salai (little Devil). About it reports The Independent.

Vincheti has conducted an infrared analysis of the canvas and found that the “Mona Lisa” combines both models — and Lisa Gherardini, and Salai. The similarity with the young men is found, in particular, in the Mona Lisa smile.

Other critics disagreed with the findings Vincheti. A leading expert on the works of da Vinci, Martin Kemp called his research “a mix of well-known, proizvolnogo and fictional”. “Infrared analysis in this case could not confirm that the painting is Salai,” he said.

Full name of the “Mona Lisa” or “Mona Lisa”, “Portrait of Mrs. Lisa Giocondo”. The painting was done by Leonardo da Vinci in 1503-1505 years. It is considered that the canvas depicts the wife of silk merchant from Florence, Lisa Gherardini.

Apprentice Salai, as scientists assume, began working for Leonardo at the age of 10. Their intimate relationship is not confirmed.
