Most of the dead people were former police officers and soldiers of the Iraqi army.
According to local authorities, most of the dead were law enforcement officers and government soldiers.
Men were shot in the village of Hammam al-Alil, 15 km South of Mosul.
The source added that the jihadists taking hostages of the inhabitants of the surrounding villages in order to intimidate the civilian population and hamper the advance of coalition forces in the direction of Mosul.
“In every village, they are forced to leave, the IG seizes whole families,” said Hoshyar Zebari.
