Near the city of Bushehr in southern Iran on Saturday started construction of a second reactor at the only nuclear plant in the country.

The project for the construction of two additional reactors with a capacity of about a thousand megawatts each, with a total value of more than 8.5 billion US dollars, participation in which accepts Russia should be completed within the next ten years. Start of construction of the third reactor is scheduled for 2018.
First Vice-President Jahangiri Eshak called the construction of nuclear reactors a “symbol of the achievements of Iran with the signing in July 2015 nuclear deal with the world the six world powers – the US, Britain, France, China, Russia and Germany. The document, which provides, in particular, a significant reduction in programs for the enrichment of radioactive uranium Tehran and the monitoring of their implementation by the IAEA allowed Iran to get rid of the harsh economic sanctions from the West and gave the green light to the continuation of the program with the use of country of peaceful nuclear energy.
Yet the only active nuclear reactor at the Bushehr NPP, which was constructed with participation of Russian company “Rosatom” and connected to the network 2011. In 2014, Moscow and Tehran reached an agreement on the construction of further reactors. Iran wants to build the country’s 20 nuclear reactors in order to reduce the dependence of its own grid from natural gas and oil.
