IOC urged to freeze the preparations for the competition in Russia

The international Olympic Committee (IOC) urged the international Federation of winter sports to suspend the preparation for major competitions on the territory of Russia, said in a statement posted on the official website.

Statement by the IOC is a reaction to published yesterday the report of the special Commission of the world anti-doping Agency (WADA), about doping in Russian sport.

“On the basis of detailed descriptions of the manipulation of the samples during the Olympic games in Sochi, the IOC requests all the international Federation of winter sports to freeze the preparation for major competitions on the territory of Russia, in particular, to the world Championships, stages of world Cups or other international tournaments, and start looking for alternative locations”, the statement says.

The IOC also refused to organize and conduct under the auspices of the sporting events in Russia, including plans for the European games 2019, the host country which is not already selected.

Manufacturer of test tubes for doping tests questioned the report of WADA

The American edition of the New York Times in may published an article with statements of the former head of the Moscow anti-doping laboratory of Gregory Rodchenkov. He argued that at least 15 Russian medalists of the Olympic games in Sochi, was part of the “doping program” Russia aimed at dominance in home Games in 2014.

Later the World anti-doping Agency said it will conduct its own investigation into statements Rodchenkova. The results of the investigation Commission, headed by Richard McLaren, was announced Monday in Toronto. The McLaren did not name any of the sports, or the names of athletes who might have been involved in doping.
