India wants to stop importing oil

Индия хочет отказаться от импорта нефти

Indian authorities expect to stop importing oil by developing vehicles on alternative energy sources. This was stated by transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.

“We will develop this country to import oil became zero. We promote alternative energy sources such as ethanol, methanol, bio-LNG (liquefied natural gas produced using biotechnology — ed.). This will give impetus to the development of rural and agricultural areas and create jobs,” said Gadkari, whose words cites RIA “Novosti”.

The Minister recalled that the country purchases abroad of oil, worth about $68 billion, although in the 2014-2015 fiscal year was almost twice that — $113 billion.

Gadkari also noted the special importance for the development of alternative energy sources for agricultural regions. “Socio-economic situation is not very good, agriculture is faced with serious problems. Economics of alternative energy will change the socio-economic situation in agriculture. It’s time for the country to develop a plan to save lives in rural areas and employed in agriculture. We can make ethanol from biomass, including straw, cotton, wheat straw, rice stalks, bagasse (waste sugar cane — ed.). Even from the household wastes we can make ethanol,” added the Minister. According to him, this will save about $75 billion.
