In Yerevan there was a firefight between an armed group holding the building regiment of the police and security forces.
As reported in the press service of the Armenian police, during a firefight one of the members of an armed group wounded:
“In violation of the requirements of law enforcement authorities only on the territory of the regiment heard the shots. Law enforcement officers returned fire. Wounded one of the shooters – Arayik Handaan,” – said the press service.

On July 17, an armed group Sasna Tsrer seized the building of the patrol-sentry regiment of the interior Ministry of Armenia in Yerevan, killing one policeman and six captured. The main requirement of armed radicals was the release of opposition leader Zhirayr Sefilyan.
Police cordoned off the building and the surrounding area, but did not dare to storm.
