The number of undocumented migrants living in a camp near Calais in Northern France, is constantly growing. As informs television channel France Info, citing data from the non-profit organizations Auberge des migrants and Refugees Help, there is already more than 9 thousand.

According to estimates, only last month their number increased by 2 thousand. By the end of summer, according to forecasts, the camp will accommodate more than 10 thousand workers. And this despite the fact that there is no place for tents to arrive, not enough food, very high risk of fires. Volunteers say that the situation is very tense.

Mostly in the camp of immigrants from Sudan (45 per cent) and Afghanistan (30 percent). Followed by Pakistanis (7%), Eritreans (6 per cent), Ethiopians and Iraqis (4 percent). Only 1 percent were refugees from war-torn Syria. Another 3 percent of illegal immigrants in Calais – the representatives of other countries.

Local authorities do not agree with the data presented. According to their calculations, in June the camp had a population of only 4.5 million people. A new census will be conducted in the near future.
