An Indian tribe in the Amazon region of Peru was taken hostage at least eight officials, demanding help from the government, after oil pollution of their lands, reports Reuters.
The President of state energy company Petroperu Herman Velasquez stated that the Indians in the area Mauriege took the helicopter together with government officials and the crew, insisting on an immediate solution to their problems.
It is reported that in February because of the breakthrough of Petroperu pipeline on Indian lands, it spilled about 1000 barrels of oil.
