The government can cut 40 percent of budget places in universities in 2017 from the set for this year level. About necessity of such decision in the Ministry of education stated in connection with the budget cuts by state programs “Development of education” and “Development of science and technology”. So, as a result of budget optimization without jobs by 2019 will remain 10.3 thousand scientific employees of universities, Russian Academy of Sciences and the Kurchatov Institute. Will also be reduced by scientific research, activities on development of scientific and technical base. The overheads in the budget of higher education and student scholarships in a separate position, the Ministry has not allocated. As stated by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, “the circumstances will have to optimize the costs by reallocating funds to the most important areas to reduce inefficient spending”.
