Terrorist group “Frente al-Nusra, which is fighting in Syria, said that is no longer a unit of “al-Qaeda”.
Group leader, Abu Mohammed al-Golani said that from now on, the terrorist organization will be called “jabhat al Fatah ash-sham (“Front for the liberation of Syria”).
The media pointed out that the decision to break ties with “al-Qaeda” may be targeted closer to other Islamist groups operating in Syria.
At the same time, the publication Middle East Eye wrote that earlier “al-Qaeda has published the audiotape of their leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, in which he approved the separation of the “Front an-Nusra” for the sake of unity with those who are “fighting against a common enemy in Syria.”
