German rider Roger Kluge (IAM Cycling) successfully attacked at the finish of the 17th stage of the Italian race.
The breakaway of the day was eliminated for 1.7 kilometres before the stage finish. In the main group immediately went to new attack – an attempt by Lars Tank tore Filippo Pozzato, Roger Kluge, but one I couldn’t catch. 30-year-old German survived the onslaught of the sprint teams and scored his debut victory in the race Grand tour.
For General classification, today’s stage fatal did not matter. Permutations are possible tomorrow, the peloton will have a 240-kilometer section to mount the second category further immediate descent.
