Italian racer Matteo Trentin (“Etixx-QuickStep) became the winner of the next segment of the Italian race.
Trentino victory on the longest stage of the 99th version of the Giro has brought an impressive finishing spurt – Matteo qualified in the breakaway of the day, and on the last meters of the race caught up with and surpassed two interim leaders.
Trentin is unlikely to be victoriously raised her hands at the finish of the 18th stage of the Giro, if not for the help from teammate Gianluca’s Brambilla on the finish slowed his companion Moreno Moser and allowed Trentino calmly pick up the victory.
Today’s stage in the plan any pink shirts did not matter – Steven Creswick without problems retained the three-minute lead over closest pursuer.
